DISCOVER ORIGINAL THINKING

While proudly the oldest distillery on Islay, we measure ourselves by our last bottle. We have helped write the story of this extraordinary island. But it is the endlessly captivating craft of whisky making, and the unforgettable moments it inspires, that drives us.

Our Process

Since 1779 we have crafted our expressive, multi-dimensional single malt, surrounded by the untamed beauty of our island home. As the centuries have passed, the processes we follow to create Bowmore single malt Scotch whisky have been gently refined to be an evolution of our beginnings. Indeed, to walk into our No1 vault on the shores of Loch Indaal is to walk back in time.

A PLACE LIKE NO OTHER

Sitting serenely on the shores of Loch Indaal, the city of Bowmore is immersed in nature of breathtaking beauty. A place unhurried by time, and weighed down with extraordinary history, it continues to write its indelible chapter in whisky's story.

Sustainability

Our connection to the land runs deep and strong. Islay's rich natural environment is elemental in crafting Bowmore whisky's complex and unmistakable persona. We take our water from a lade which runs seven miles into the village from the River Laggan.
